  • So you’ve decided try Osteopathy and you arrive for an appointment, what can you expect?

Firstly, your Osteopath will take a case history and perform an osteopathic examination. These will involve asking questions about your complaint including how it happened, what aggravates and relieves it and then performing several tests to reproduce your symptoms and get a stronger idea of your pain. From this we’ll form a diagnosis and explain to you in clear simple language what we think is the problem, why it is occurring and how to prevent it in the future.

We’ll then provide approximately 20 minutes of hands-on care, utilising techniques such as massage, stretching, joint articulation and manipulation, your Osteopath aims to decrease your pain and increase your quality of life.

You may also be recommended some stretches or home exercises to complete, ergonomic adjustments, postural changes or general feedback to aid recovery and prevent recurrence. Coupled with Osteopathic treatment, this will go a long way to getting you up and about again.
